+ Workshop details

Open to all couples, individuals who are part of a couple (attending without their partner), and singles (not currently partnered).
We are an inclusive workshop, welcoming of all LGBTQI-identified persons and other diverse identities.

This highly acclaimed and internationally recognized Hold Me Tight® workshop is based on one of the most successful models of couples therapy (Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy). The workshop demystifies couples’ conflict and communication difficulties while providing a safe space to explore reoccurring patterns, understand emotional needs and improve communication. The workshop will lead to change on a practical level, helping you learn to create lasting love.

This workshop was created for those who struggle with communication, intimacy and security. You will learn to understand relationships, how to heal broken bonds, and rekindle the spark in your current or future relationship (if currently single). Hold Me Tight® will teach you how to feel safe, secure and connected in relationship by enabling you to:

Understand the real reasons you get into struggles over and over.
Change patterns that leave you frustrated, angry and hurting.
Engage in conversations keeping your love alive and secure.

Founder of Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy and creator of the Hold Me Tight® workshop, Sue Johnson, talks about the Hold Me Tight book, which gives a sneak preview into what you will experience at the workshop.

The Hold Me Tight® Workshop was developed by Dr. Sue Johnson and is designed around seven conversations based on the Hold Me Tight book, all of which have been shown to be essential to successful relations.  You will learn how to understand and improve your relationship through presentations by the workshop leaders, private exercises and conversations (either on your own, or with your partner) and by watching video demonstrations of real-life couples.

During the Hold Me Tight weekend, you will also learn how to:

  • Recognize underlying reasons for conflict
  • Move out of negative conflict cycles
  • Gain a better understanding of your own emotional responses and needs
  • Experience deeper intimacy and closeness
  • Improve communication
  • Affirm relationship strengths and create a secure attachment

This workshop is designed for individuals, as well as all couples in a committed relationship (dating, living together, LGBTQ , common-law and married) who are interested in becoming more responsive and engaged with a partner (either current, or in future if you are single).
